Guest Speaker: Lynn Erasmus SA, Director Pathfinder
Background:
SIBL’s 2022-23 events series started last August by recognising that whilst change has been on the agenda since time immemorial that post-pandemic, the rate of change has accelerated as we find ourselves living and working in a new world of constantly accelerating profound change with unprecedented economic and societal considerations. So as leaders, “change” was clearly going to be an underlying presence and theme.
Given this familiarity with change one might think that we have become the masters of change. Alas, not Seventy-five % of change projects still fail in terms of achieving objectives and or planned timescales. The mandate is clear: for survival and growth we need to develop both ourselves and our people proactively so that together we can be ready to make the most of whatever happens when we turn the next corner on our journeys.
Workshop Lead-in and Content
If we are to succeed in managing corporate change then a pre-requisite is the skill to handle personal change in our own lives. Lynn Erasmus’s workshop starts at this very beginning with the fundamental lessons of change in this interactive reality check designed to bring us to the very top of our game.
If we are truly honest with ourselves, we have much to learn at the personal level which is the opportunity that today’s invigorating workshop puts on a plate.
Lynn Erasmus as our “got the T-shirt” speaker explains that today’s Ten Commandments session constitutes a series of key considerations for effective change with ample opportunity to express and explore our own understanding and experiences, including blockages that inhibit our mastery of change.
Outputs
Participants will engage with challenging their comfort zones and move from a place of uncertainty, possibility -driven by anxiety, into a place of curiosity, while building the courage to change and gain the clarity and commitment to overcome limiting beliefs and with a reminder to celebrate success.
Specific key outputs are a clearer understanding that:
- We are approaching change the wrong way by invariably “avoiding and carrying on regardless”.
- There are practical tools to help us change within our selves and how we feel about change itself.
- We can all acquire the requisite skills to confidently embrace and manage change.
- We can dispel distracting conscious or hidden fears that can inhibit our growth & development.
- Embracing change through adaptability is a pre-requisite to achieving key potential performance improvement as the trigger for success at both personal and organisational levels.
Lynn Erasmus Speaker Profile
Lynn Erasmus is a South African born award-winning entrepreneur, coach, keynote speaker, facilitator and author now residing with her family in Perth.
Fresh out of University, Lynn saw a lack of free information for start-ups and created a community newspaper & events company in Port Elizabeth that impacted thousands of lives in the process. Three years ago Lynn made the dramatic life changing decision to leave South Africa with its vibrant heavily diversified culture to immigrate to Scotland; the underlying aim being to secure a more promising future for her young family.
Apart from addressing profound culture shock on her inspiring journey Lynn has experienced burnout, and recently for the first time even procrastination, and the dreaded “Imposter Syndrome”. However one of the many positives from this inspirational journey has been the discovery of the secret ingredients of change in the form of The Ten Commandments that Lynn shares with today’s participants.
