SIBL Coach and Facilitator: Alison Smith, Landscaping your Life

The success of the peer group coaching is very much down to the level of trust that develops in the executive group over time and having respect for the diversity of backgrounds and skills in the room. An important truism is that “the greater the diversity the greater the learning”. Being prepared to participate and offer one’s skills to one’s peers even if one hasn’t a specific issue is an indicator of the conscious leader.
Alison Smith is a freelance consultant and SIBL speaker and facilitator. Her
corporate background was in procurement management for major financial organisations before becoming an international consultant for some 35 years. 20 years ago, she added coaching and behavioural skills into the mix with clients in the USA, China, and Europe.
An extract from a poem she’s written ‘From not knowing to knowing what to do’ perhaps summarise her preferred approach that clearly makes Alison a perfect Oasis facilitator.
“The answer for me was the unconventional.
Not just because I feel at home there.
Because it is our conventional eyes that are seeing the lack of options
Unconventional looking gives permission to act ‘as if’ there’s other ways to view the situation.
To believe there’s a solution, or even multiple solutions, out there”
