Keynote Speaker: Geoff Marlow
Introduction
In his memoir “WhoSays Elephants Can’t Dance” Lou Gerstner described his most important learning whilst turning around IBM as CEO from 1993 – 2002:“I came to see, in my time at IBM, that culture isn’t just one aspect of the game—it is the game. In the end, an organization is nothing more than the collective capacity of its people to create value.
Connecting to the above, and in an increasingly uncertain and unpredictable world, spirituality (SQ) has a central role to play in creating a culture that unblocks, unlocks, and unleashes the collective human capacity to continuously create new organisational value.
Workshop Content
This interactive workshop will incorporate an engineer’ story in engaging with Spirituality (SQ) as being the next progressive advancement from the more generally known and applied concepts of Emotional Intelligence (EQ) in business.
We will explore how senior executives can leverage a practical understanding of Spirituality to create and sustain a future-fit organisational culture To llustrate: Senior executives are behoved to create the conditions for three main activities to be deeply embedded and widely distributed throughout their organisations ie in order to cultivate a culture of creativity and to stimulate new developments.
These three key activities are listed below as in “How to…….
1. Make sense of an ever-changing, uncertain, and unpredictable world.
2. Make decisions by combining external information with internal insights.
3.Take action to test, validate and scale up what works and stop doing what doesn’t.
Outputs
the workshop will illustrate how senior executives can embrace spirituality in processing the key tasks that create the conducive conditions to support creative developments thereby enabling them to be brought to life. In adopting spirituality this in turn also enhances the leadership capabilities within the organisation itself.
As is the SIBL norm, learning will also be gleaned from interactive breakout exchanges of views and experiences and one’s own subsequent personal reflections.
